On the other hand Jemma, you can keep your surname if you so wish ( if this is what you'd prefer & he is in agreeance ), you can SHARE your time with this man who presumably you love & he can be happy for you to spend time doing the things that you want to do either with him, on your own or with others, he can encourage your talent & aid you ( if you so wish ) in your endeavours, he can energise you in the same way any other person who loves another person can, he would love to make a home with you in East Anglia or anywhere else you wished, but remember that most decisions shared between two people inevitably involve compromise, so both persons wishes need to be respected. He will compliment your life, you will compliment his, you will share your life, you will share his, you will grow old together, encourage one another...LOVE another.
Of course, you could take another's advice & expect your married life to be utterly dreadful, but maybe this person giving you advice is just so miserable herself that she resents others happiness & is blind to how life CAN be.
There is another option of course Jenna & that's don't fucking get married if men are so unredeemably awful.
except he doesn't want her to do the things she's good at and interested in. He doesn't encourage her talents. He wants and expects her life to revolve exclusively round him.
